Three items received recently. One of Eddie Davis who I saw for the first time in many years at this years reunion.  The other two B/W’s are from David Rhodes, the son of the former DTS at Bradford, George Rhodes. The first B/W is from the 1972 Dinner dance. The second shows the Traffic Office staff at Bradford in 1959. A very young David Allan is seen crouching at the front!

This must have been taken after march 1960 as I joined WYRCC in october 1959 and spent my first 6 months at Head Office East Parade Harrogate travelling every day on the 7.40 Bradford Harrogate service 51 via Yeadon and returning on the 5.40 service 53 via Otley. I then transferred to Chester Street until march 1961 when I defected to work for British Railways!!
I am standing on the far right of the picture and I remember the boss Mr A N Terry (2nd from the left) Inspector Rhodes (next to me) and David Allan well. Unfortunately I cannot recall the names of the other two.
I have fond memories of my short spell on WYRCC especially helping to direct people on to the special buses to the coast on summer saturdays and changing the ‘bottommeter’ rolls on the bulkheads of three DX’s (DX3, DX5 and DX21 I think). These vehicles were fitted with buttons under each seat which sent an impulse to a graph recorder and thus provided a graph of the bus loadings throughout the day.

Brian, I remember you well along with George Rhodes (whose son David I am in touch with) and of course Alan Terry (DTS). As far as dates are concerned, I arrived at Bradford from Head Office late 1959 ( after moving around most of depots) and left again for Vicar Lane, Leeds in the spring of 1960. I was in digs on Bradford Moor through a bad winter – traveling to night school in Leeds in awful weather and on the ‘trollies’ to work- so I remember it well! I left WYRCC in late 1960 and eventually went into logistics for the rest of my successful working life – but remained with a strong interest in the bus world. The ‘ bumcounters’ were a common feature of their days on selected vehicles for route analysis. David Allen
