Photograph showing John Welch (Depot Engineer Bfd.) supervising the change of operator’s licence with the storeman (Name?) at Hammerton Street depot.

In the file attached this shows John Welch (Depot Engineer) and Norman Parker (Operations Manager) about to shake hands as Norman and his wife board one of the last buses to leave the Depot. John then had the job with the storeman (in brown coat) to replace all the legal lettering on former WYRCC buses to include the Swinegate address in Leeds covering East Parade Harrogate as the operator licence address.

So sorry to learn of Tony Collins demise. Our thoughts are with his family..from Leo Shackleton
Three items received recently. One of Eddie Davis who I saw for the first time in many years at this years reunion. The other two B/W’s are from David Rhodes, the son of the former DTS at Bradford, George Rhodes. The first B/W is from the 1972 Dinner dance. The second shows the Traffic Office staff at Bradford in 1959. A very young David Allan is seen crouching at the front!
Welcome to the new WYRC.co.uk website!
There is not really a lot on the site at the moment but we are hoping to transfer all the content from the old site over to this new one over the next couple of days and weeks.
At the point that all the content from the old site has been transfered we will close the old site.
If you would like to take the time to register on this site the forum is working and we are hoping that people will find it easy enough to use.
Any problems or questions please feel free to contact me and I will try to help wherever possible.
I thought the change of day & venue might have been a problem this year, but no, there was a very good turn out of about 90 ex-road & office staff.
One or two disappointments, only one Rapide Hostess, Paula2 & just a couple of garage fitters came this years. Only Chris Youhill came from Leeds, but we were honoured by the presence of Eric Windle, representing Keighley & District!! The rest were the usual reliable crowd there to reminisce and catch up on the last 12 months.
Dave Bland asked for a minutes silence for Ken Sutclffe & Peter Silson, both of whom passed away this year.
The new venue, the Bradford Irish Club (IDL), though a slightly smaller room, was a good choice. The Steward, John Clark, and his bar staff were very helpful & friendly. Hopefully we will see them again next year.
A couple of little “thank yous”. First every one who donated to the raffle, especially Dave Taylor and to Kim Ward who, despite being unable to attend the Reunion, sent a very generous donation to the Reunion funds.
Again I must thank my wife, Karen, without who’s enthusiasm this reunion would not take place. My Daughter, Caroline & sister-in-law Joanne for helping with the catering and last but not least, Steve Rice for the music on the night, supplied for a pittance!!! Thank you all very much….Colin Wilson.
